Hi, I'm sanjeev raj neupane from Nepal. I'm one of the recepient of GYCA small grants for my project "HIV reduction through enterpreneurship development". This project will be implemented in Pokhara of Nepal.

Pokhara is a rapidly urbanising city in the western development region of Nepal. Every year hundred of new drug users are being added to the pool of drug users in pokhara. Among the different reasons, one of the main reason youths start to take drugs is the lack of employment opportunities. Due to lack of job, youths have lots of free time, and in their free time youths first experiment with drugs and ultimately become addicted to drugs.

The main aim of this project is to provide entrepreneurship training to youths and recovering drug users receiving treatment in rehabilitation centres of Pokhara. One of the main reason youths start to take drugs is the lack employment opportunities. So we will help youths to become self employed by providing them entrepreneurship training and increasing their coordination with established entrepreneurs. For this we will go to schools and colleges and make the students aware about the drugs and negative consequences of using drugs. We will also provide entrepreneurship training and orientation to the students of school and college. The students will make their entrepreneur plan and we will also help them in implementing their plan. Similarly we will also provide entrepreneurship training to injection drug users receiving treatment in rehabilitation canters. We will help them in making their entrepreneurship plan while they are receiving treatment and they will implement their plan after completing their three months of rehabilitation. This will help them in keeping themselves engaged in some work and help them to stay away from drugs.

The basic idea of my project is to develop the enterpreneurship skills among recovering drug users and people living with HIV.
